Investment interests: Semiconductors, medical devices, anything deep tech related

Born and raised in: Harbin (Northeastern China). Educated at Tsinghua University (Biomedical Engineering) and Stanford (EE PhD)

Since I trained in highly cross-disciplinary Biomedical Engineering at Tsinghua University, my life is set for multitasking.

My first startup experience in China was in 1988 when I was a college student, and, with seven Tsinghua alumni, used an Opto-mechanic-electrical machine to read pencil marks in standardized tests.

My first startup in America was in 1999 while I was a PhD student at Stanford University; eventually four of us teamed up for  three consecutive semiconductor fabless design ventures in the past 20 years. So far, we have achieved exits though three M&As and one Nasdaq IPO filing.

My venture investment experience started in 2010 while initiating TEEC Angel Fund as North American chairman of TEEC organization, and later in Tsingyuan Ventures (now Foothill Ventures), all with the mind to bridge multi-disciplinary expertise for break-through opportunities, especially in life science applications.
